As I indicated in my last post, I’m releasing the brown road tiles I’ve been working on despite some reservations. You can find it on EDIBLE. I was not able to get the roads to look exactly the way I wanted, but most of the anomalies are only visible on the closest zoom settings. The screenshot along with this post shows what the roads look like at the zoom level I commonly use.
I made a few changes that helped reduce the visible anomalies. First, I’ve widened the roads to the same width as river tiles. This reduced the contracts between the roads and the borders. The second thing I did is made the alpha channels operate at 100% and 0% with no ratio in between. This causes the sprites to be pixelated in close zoom levels, which contracts significantly from the art style I typically use.
