November 2020 Update

Welcome to the November Monthly Update.  This month promises to see some new uploads to EDIBLE.  I want to thank the tournament team for bearing with me through one of the toughest years of my professional career.  November is traditionally the time when we start preparing for the end of year tournament which is the main update for today.

First, while I haven’t made a post about it, you may have noticed the new link to the incomplete tournament documentation for EDCE.  Thanks to Hodak (a.k.a Hatchel) and her wisdom I have been convinced that I should post the incomplete documentation, with its typos and all.  This is a reversal from my post last month.  She made two valid points that eventually swayed me.  One, the longer I wait the less time others have to review the modifications.  Two, there is a good chance I wouldn’t post it at all this year seeing how things are going in my personal life.

I will be making a separate post about the tournament guide in the next few days.  I want to do some revisions before I make an announcement.  I don’t know why, perhaps some of you are subscribed to the Empire Deluxe category, but I seem to get more traffic when I post something specific rather than mention it in a monthly update.

Next, I want to draw your attention to an important EDCE update.  I am, of course, referring to the release of EDCE v18 last week.  To my surprise, there are quite a lot of changes in this build.  One very important update for me is the changes to morphing which may finally fix MUD.  I am eager to get some games going, as well as some set updates, now that it is official.  There are also some heavy modifications to how the AI plays, and it looks like any custom AI’s will have to completely rebuilt.

In regard to the end of year tournament, expect the tournament map to be posted later this month.  We have a check-in scheduled next week and at least three players committed.  The biggest change is the moderator will be streaming the game this year to a closed community.  I plan to post my usual updates, but there may be some delays this year depending on how well this works.  We had two preliminary games happen without a hitch, so all signs are looking good for our end of year finale.

That’s it for today.  Hopefully I’ll be posting again soon.

  1. I think you forgot the efficiency calculations to the main scoring page. It is only on the set matches.

Unless there was a vote i am not aware of?

    1. Yes, you are right. It took me a while, but I found the missing section. At first glance I thought you were misreading the section since CVS score is a component of the unit PMS score. But there is an additional rule that weighs the end-game CVS score as well. I’ll get it added the next time I do a page update.

If it doesn’t get changed before the tournament starts, I’ll make a note of it at the beginning of the game.
