Emperor of the Fading Suns is a turn-based strategy game where you are the leader of a noble house attempting to capture the Imperial Throne on the planet Byzantium II. It’s one of the few games in existence that includes strategic elements for both land-based and space-based conquest. It’s model is very similar to a game the Worlds of Nations community created in the mid 2000’s called Sci-Fi wars. Its rich modding capability and active community have kept the game alive, which culminated in an Enhanced version released in 2025.

EFS is being added to the EDIBLE modding database despite it’s limited ties to Empire Deluxe, from which EDIBLE is derived, because the same group that plays Empire is also playing EFS. It is a fitting place for now, because it’s easier to modify one location vs. two. However, if enough content is generated to support moving to it’s own database, the location may see a change in the future.
