Empire Deluxe – The MUD Video Manual Almost Ready

Today I put the finishing touches on the Video Manual for the Modern Units Database. I’ve spend around a month sifting through all the game play feedback, recommendations from EDTC, and then my own notes from when I developed the initial content.  I’ve got it down to the essential details necessary to play this set the way it was intended.  Now all that remains is the voice over.

I had no idea the undertaking this set would require when I first started working on MUD.  I knew it was going to be a challenge, but I’ve spent thousands of hours to-date getting the mod to its current state and there is still so much more to go before I can consider it complete.  In hind sight, this mod offered a decent replacement to Worlds of Nations which hasn’t had a major update since I switched to EDCE.  As much as I wanted to make this a quick video, I felt that submitting something that didn’t cover the full breadth of the mod was doing a disservice to the hours I’ve spent on it.

With that in mind, there is only one hurdle that still remains before I release this manual.  That hurdle is the examples of the gameplay in action.  That means I need to record a game where I am actively talking and providing feedback to the players.  That requires me to set aside enough time to record everything in one sitting.  Once that is done, I’ll be uploading it for everyone to watch.
